Welcome to kidOYO indie school. This year (2017-18) is your opportunity to define what kind of school you want to learn in. This is your school, you own root. What will you build & learn?
As the Headmaster of kidOYO indie school, along with my team, we have assembled a staff of mentors covering many real-world high-skill disciplines, from computer science & software development to mechanical & audio engineering, foreign language immersion, mathematics, psychology, anthropology, sociology, game development, economics, accounting, entrepreneurship, product development, medical doctors with animal hospital laboratory resources, and much much more!
Now it is your turn to learn without limits. This starts with a plan. Every ambitious endeavor should document a plan outlining the intent of your efforts. In this planning process, I want you to ask some basic fundamental questions of yourself:
- What motivates you? What gives you the motivation to overcome problems?
- What do you care about and want to show love for in your learning?
- What will you build? How will you show what you know?
This is your first task for the year... while launching your basic class experiences, I want each of you to create your "indie learning plan" answering those three questions for yourself. As your mentors, we will evaluate your submissions and guide our own efforts based on your personal goals for the year.
Incrementally, each of your learning activities should be documented for later review and inclusion in your learning portfolio. Your web domains will provide the ultimate location for constructing this story, and your personal projects will serve as assessment tools for mentors and parents interested in tracking your progression.
Best of luck... it is a dream of many to control the trajectory and daily minutia of your own education, aimed at your own goals and personal interests, with nothing standing in your way except the standards of achievement you set for yourself. This is your opportunity... we look forward to watching and participating in what you do with it.
